Kim Lane is the owner and creator of Sole, The bee and thistle and The bargain bee. Raised in the Seattle, Washington area, Kim was exposed to the unique combination of big-city culture with the relaxed Pacific Northwest approach to life. The result was an understanding and appreciation of good design, great value and the conviction that fashion should be fun. In 1986, Kim moved to Los Angeles and after several years in sales and management became a Brass Plum Accessory Buyer for Nordstrom. She later moved on to become a jewelry designer whose merchandise was sold in national chains throughout the country. Known for her youthful style and her gift for blending current trends with original design, Kim quickly moved to Head Designer and Trend Director, focusing on private label product for major junior retailers. Despite her success in the field, she longed to return to the Pacific Northwest and begin her own business. She began small-a 300 square foot space in the lobby of The Heathman Hotel. After its quaint beginning in 1997 as an out-of-the ordinary hotel gift shop, Kim relocated The bee and thistle to NW Westover in the Nob Hill neighborhood. The new address allowed her to combine her incredible eye for fashion and trends with her personal passion for creating the perfect customer experience. In 2004, Kim took her talents to The Pearl and opened Sole, a shoe and accessory boutique. "The setting may be up-scale but the prices are not.", says Lane. Nor, does Sole sell out when it comes to selection!
